For more glamor and elegance with a dash of realism turn to Cynthia Ashby. Her Holiday collection for
2007 absorbs all the materials we know and love as party fabrics plus a few more. The difference with
Ashby's work is that her satins are silk, not polyacrylonylomide and therefore do not emit flashes of
static crackle when greeting one's host with a kiss. Her satins are soft and washed, structured to allow
for the nature of the fabric to billow and waft, ensuring a stunning entrance.

Ashby's palette is sensitive and a million miles away from the usual chemical slash reds and boot
polish blacks that come November will be available at a high street near you. 'Nightfall' replaces black
with the mix of indigo, dark grey and almost imperceptible violet that are the true colors of a near
light-less sky. Adding a seasonal warmth and spice to her selective shade card is a pale scarlet
cinnamon wash.

Many items in the collection are made from fluid, lush and slightly battered looking silk velvet. High
